This hole-in-the-wall might not look like much from the outside, but they're serving up some tasty Thai food in here!My friends and I wanted to go to the Boiling Point nearby but the line there was too long and we were starving, so we stumbled upon this place instead. I got the house noodles with soup at the recommendation of my server. The rice noodles were perfectly chewy in the comforting and light soup broth. Plus, the seafood and chicken added umami to the dish but still kept it refreshing. The interior of this place is cozy and the servers are super friendly and welcoming. My server helped me decide what to order and also brought me some extra chili power and sauces so I could make my noodles spicy to my taste.Nourishing, homestyle Thai food is always a good option, so give City Thai a chance if you're in the neighbourhood!
I come to this special place from time to time because I like the ambiance that is characterizes this place. The staff is highly helpful and skilfull. The service is awfully quick. Most important, the food you get is excellent. I frequent many times and I was always happy. The price is reasobable. I recommend this place to to everybody.
The food was very good but serving plates and dishes also forks, knives and spoons were very old and not shiny it seems they used more than thousand times and it was not good feeling, the windows were not clean and restaurant environment didn't work give you good feeling to enjoy the foods.
Although it was almost closing time, they invited me in and sat me at a table. They were very helpfuul and curtious. The food was delicious.
Best in East County! Beware, they have the spicy rating of Thailand, so don't go over a 5 if you're sensitive to spicy food! The Lemongrass BBQ Chicken is awesome, the curries are delightful, and the crab Pad Thai was pretty awesome (though the crab was slightly dry). We really like their fresh spring rolls, best in Pasadena.
Super expensive for the quality of food. The location is somewhat upscale but still there are a bunch of affordable places with much better food.
A hidden gem in "Old Pasadena. Delicious food with good service and low prices in a true "casual corner restaurant". I stumbled across this while walking around trying to find a completely different place to eat. They were not listed on either google or bing maps. The place seems family owned and they appear to take great pride in what they do. I'm glad I found it. Though I am not too familiar with "Thai'" food, I will eat here again. It was much less *spicy* than I thought it would be. Left feeling quite full. I was torn between giving a "5" or a "4". I think the fact that it is so low key is throwing me off. There was nothing outstanding about this restaurant except what I've written above, but I've decided to give it a "5" based on the fact I really couldn't find anything wrong with it except maybe it's not too *fancy* about it. =I am a real person, this is true review. Please check my other reviews for veracity. =
Food does not taste very good compared to other thai restaurants, but the service makes up for it.
Strategic location and they also provide free parking for 2 hours at the back of the resto. The food tastes so great. The staffs are also helpful and friendly. Price? A bit pricey but still good. 😘
Tried this place already with my friend and I am obsessed ever since. I enjoyed the awesome ambience and delightful food and drinks. 5 stars from me.
Decent food. Fast service. Flavorful, but not spicy enough. Would recommend Monsoon Salmon & Pineapple fried rice. Ice cream with fried bananas was excellent. The soda machine does not work; Sprite tasted like sparkling water.
Everything was fresh and healthy. The flavors from each dish had they're own uniqueness, but not over powering. The appetizer of chicken satay was the best I ever had! I know it's just chicken , but some how they make it so moist and still leaving that wonderful flame grilled taste. The yellow curry and the tom kha gai soup was damn good too!
The curry was really flavorful however, its pricier than other thai places i have been to.
At first glance “Sh*tty Thai” looked to be a convienent delicious Thai restaurant in the heart of old town Pasadena. Unfortunately customers who wander into this restaurant should expect to to be ordered around to sit in uncomfortable seating accommodations. On multiple occasions I came into this this establishment with a group and was forced to sit at a small table while there was much better seating on the other side of the restaurant. Mind you it was lunch time, the restaurant was empty, and we were refused appropriate accommodations. There was a hair in my orange chicken and the soup looked like dish water. If you like condescending service and “authentic Thai food” than this is the place for you.
I love this place, Yellow Curry with brown rice, can't go wrong.
Good Thai food....
Yellow Curry, spicy fried rice.. my favorite.. Always on point. Service, love it..
This restaurant is my first choice site. Of all restaurants I know I favor it most. I always suggests to my friends to go to visit this place. Whenever I I need a superb meal, this is the place that comes immediately to my head. exeptionalgorgeous and food and a rich menu.well mannered team, and nice ambience. Also, the expence is honest. I recommend this spot with no doubt.
Okay I never write reviews, EVER so this is saying something. My husband and I stumbled upon this restaurant MONTHS ago and it's so good I just had to review it. It doesn't look like much from the outside--but this place is amazing! We were the only ones in the restaurant so we had great, fast service. I ordered orange chicken thinking the portion size would be small like the picture looked. Nope! It was a huge order of the most fantastic orange chicken I've ever had in my life. My husband agreed. He ordered a spicy curry and LOVED it. Quiet, clean, nice, DELICIOUS, and very affordable. We'll be back on our next CA visit!!
My favorite Thai place mainly because of proximity but I'm on the lookout for a new one. They reduced the amount of curry you get on to-go orders from the larger cylinder container (maybe 6-8" tall) to a squatter one only about 3-4" tall. Plus, there have been times I asked for my food to be fairly spicy and have gotten my order only to find it not spicy at all. Other than that the food is very good and well made. I just want maybe a little better deal or easier 🌶🌶🌶🌶 scale rating. (They flip flop between asking for your spiciness preference on a scale of 10 and 15 whereas most places have a scale of 4 or 5)
This spot never fails to impress. They serve awesome dishes for reasonable prices, there no long wait even when the spot is busy.
For me, the service is very respectful and the food is quite delicious.Like this place.5 stars from me.
Great Christmas dinner! Even better than usual.
The food is always well prepared and flavorful, staff members gives good service. I liked how neat it is and ambience. Keep up the good work.
I love this place, I order take-out here often. However, this review isn't about their delivery, I live so close by I just go pick it up. The food is great, it's always ready fast and made correctly, their prices are very affordable and all staff are friendly - hard to get better than that! I usually go for the classics, because I love Pad See Ew, Panang Curry, and Spicy Basil the most.
Delicious food and friendly service. No long waiting time and really affordable! I come here once a week.
Good food.
Excellent service. We stayed 45 minutes after closing. We left our area tidy.
Very amicable service with great food! It was about an hour and a half before closing and service did not lack one bit. Our server was friendly and attentive; she explained that they have a 1-10 spicy level and recommended our levels according to how spicy I usually like my food. I ordered a chicken pad thai and beef pad see ew. She was right on the mark when I ordered the pad see ew at a 5; spicy and still full of authentic flavor. Pad thai was also on the mark with a large portion that left enough to take home. I will definitely be back.
This spot never fails to deliver. They serve fantastic dishes for fair rates, there no long wait even when they are loaded.
Pretty good Thai food option in Old Town Pasadena when I visit my friend who live close by. Everything tasted good every time I have visited.
Solid thai food in a calm atmosphere and convenient location. The food has changed and not quite as good as it used to be. Especially the spicy eggplant. Still good though.
First time here and server did a phenomenal job
City Thai is really set up for the lunch hour crowd. The service is quick, the food is tasty and they have a large menu dedicated to lunch specialties with a large variety of options. I order the Pad See Eww with Tofu which comes with a small salad, and an egg roll all for $9.48. The Pad Se Eww was delicious and served with a good amount pan fried tofu that was perfectly caramelized and chewy on the outside, but soft on the inside. I did want a few more pieces of broccoli on my plate, but overall this Pad See Eww was up there on my list of favorites.
Good for weekday lunch. I work nearby and go here a couple of times a month for a quick, good and cheap meal. The lunch special is a rare price point in this area. My only gripe is the music. Blasting horrible pop music on a radio station (with commercials, mind you). It really kills an otherwise serene and relaxing atmosphere. Please find something else to play.
The food was delicious and well portioned. There was one server and despite it being lunch time, she handled it! We were in and out in less than 1 hour. The place was clean and nice decor. All around great. Definitely willing to visit again if I'm in the area.
Very good menu, loved their fried crepe and ice cream!
The food Use to be good and no servers around . The hostess let us seat and after 10 mi. she came to our table and took our order on a receipt paper Slow service with drinks no straws for our drinks . We order wonton soup for a party of three. When the order came she brought one bowl of soup. To make it short we end it up eating the main course before the soup. This was our fourth time there and the food use to be good. Probably is a new chef. I'm not coming back.
The food was decent, but vegetarians beware that there's fish sauce in almost everything on the menu, and they're not great at accommodating special requests.
Careful - heavy food. we ordered a soup with my boyfriend (the coconut one) and we both had the most horrible stomach pain... The worst part is the soup tasted delicious and I had forgotten this has happened before with the same soup. I have eating many variations of this thai soup and I never felt so sick as when I ate this. My boyfriend has the toughest stomach and he felt sick as well. Just watch out!
Loved this place. Food was good and service was great. Very friendly.
They have good food, so we returned after checking their timings on google. But the shut their kitchen 1 hr early.
Good service, affordable, and most importantly, very satisfying food
I ordered food from here and Was very disappointed. The Papaya Salad Gad old tomatoes, I thought that they were marinated, but i was indeed wrong.
Lovely little spot for Thai favorites in old Town Pasadena. The Pad Thai was tasty, but I wished it was spicy. The menu is full of good options & the service was very nice too.
Decent Thai cuisine on budget.
Good food and quiet.
I love their fried rice. I get it every time!
Too cold in restaurant, temp kept at 66° in dining room year-round! Expensive for quality and quantity of food. Only Thai restaurant with Arnold Palmer on drinks menu.
I've had a lot of great Thai food so we stars is still relatively solid for a spot like this. However, there are Thai restaurants within a couple of miles of this spot that beat it on flavor and portions. I think foremost, the spot will be completely suitable if you have a hankering for some Thai food. Still tasted authentic... Man, I wish Google offered half star options. 3.5 would a helpful option.
